Lieutenant Jerre Gross leaps over an obstacle after his horse refused to jump over that obstalce during 11th Cavalry Regiment exercises at Fort Ord, California, October 1940. A printed caption and newspaper article are included on the reverse. The caption reads "I made it, anyway," Lieut. Jerre Gross, commented when his mount refused this jump during 11th Cavalry exerises at Fort Ord." The newspaper article reads "Over the Top- Lieut. Jerre Gross is pluging head first over barrier which his mount refused to take during 11th Cavalry tactical exercises at Fort Ord. He laughed it off saying: "I made it anyway." The cavalry unit will leave soon for duty along the Mexican border and is preparing with exhaustive maneuvers." |
