Postcard featuring the ladies lounge at the Fort Ord Soldier's Club, located in Stilwell Hall. This view shows the Merle Hardy Fandango-themed mural in the lounge. Original photography done by U.S. Army Signal Corps. Published by W.T. Lee Company in Monterey. Letter on the reverse is from Private First Class Charles Voit, a soldier at Fort Ord, to his wife in New York. It is postmarked on January 9, 1944. It reads "Hello Honey, This is the place where Glenn, Ray, and I found. The door above to make our grand entrance into the Soldiers Club. On the left hand side of the card showing the foyer is the stage and dance floor. Love, Charles." |
