Description |
This series of photographs record the retirement ceremony and luncheon for Dr. Stephen M. Payne held at Ambrosia's Indian restaurant in Monterey on February 26, 2019. The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) hired Dr. Payne in 1994 to serve as deputy command historian. He became the DLI's academic accrediation officer in 1996, and assistant provost in 1998. Later, Provost Dr. Ray Clifford chose Payne to serve as senior vice provost. From 2007 until 2019, Dr. Payne served as the DLI command historian. Dr. Ray Clifford, who served as Provost or Chancellor for 25 years, attended the event, as did former provosts Dr. Donald Fischer and Dr. Betty Lou Leaver, as well as the current Provost Dr. Robert Savukinas. Col. Gary Hausman, DLI commandant, delivered several awards and momentos while DLI Chief of Staff Steve Collins served as the master of ceremony. |
