Description |
Page eleven of the Michael Lally scrapbook features photos of a wharf, soldiers doing a maneuver in the Monterey area (dated from 1933), landing a small boat onshore, and with a 75mm gun. Though Lally labels the photo of the wharf as one in Monterey, the clock tower that is visible is the famous Aloha Tower lighthouse in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The photo to the left of soldiers sitting down looks like it was taken in front of a sugar cane field, further indicating several of these pictures we taken in Hawai'i. This scrapbook was made by Michael Lally, an Irish immigrant, who served in the 76th Field Artillery (FA) from 1931 to 1934. The scrapbook documents the Lally's time in Monterey, San Francisco, Hawai'i, and more with the 76th FA. |
