This box of the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) Collection includes materials regarding the history of the DLPT, specifically pertaining to the implementation, validation, comparisons with DLPT IV, student feedback, IG complaints, issues with Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), recall of DLPT 5, and test specifications. DLPT 5 test specifications notes that it will adopt a more flexible design. There will be a general set of principles and an overall design, but each test will have a different set of test specifications. The test will have two separate sections - reading comprehension and listening comprehension. Comparisons between the DLPT IV and 5 are addressed through several documents, including briefings and correspondence. A 2005 memo on the management of the DLPT program by Dr. Chu assigns authorities and procedures for the DLPT program and for the development and delivery of the DLPT. The Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Plans shall publish DoD policy and program direction for the DLPT program, to include the implementation of the web delivered DLPT 5 and the conversion of the pre-DLPT 5 generation tests from paper and pencil to a web-delivered format. A Defense Language Testing Requirements Board (DELTRB) shall also be established to develop and coordinate DLPT language testing requirements and set DLPT test development priorities. Technical notes on the DLPT 5 consist of information papers on various subjects related to the test, including, lower-range multiple course DLPT 5, Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) lower range tests, and various languages and the lower range multiple choice tests. The DLPT 5 Concept of Operations Plan provides a description of the test, as well as structure and administration, also included is test development, and the technology enhancement initiative. The purpose of the Plan to summarize plans, procedures, policies, resource requirements and challenges to the development of a testing system based on the DLPT 5. The date range of these documents is 1983 -2011, with bulk dates of 2000 -2011. |
