This box of the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) Collection includes materials regarding studies and reports related to language training, testing, standard setting, etc. Also included are records related to the finances and costs associated with the DLPT. General correspondence related to the DLPT, but not specific to any aspect, as well as Dr. Payne's notes and responses to inquiries from staff members can also be found within this box. Studies and reports on standard setting include documents specific to setting cut scores, validating scores, a manual for setting standards, scoring multiple choice tests, and standard setting for the DLPT examinations. An external review of MSA lower range DLPT 5 items was addressed as a result of USG agency concern about the DLPT. The purpose of the review was to review proficiency levels, English usage, and item construction. The review includes recommendations as well as provides a review of methodology and statistical data. A 2007 study on the validity and reliability of DLPT 5 multiple choice tests discusses the procedures and guidelines that are used in the construction of operational forms of the DLPT 5 multiple choice tests. It also outlines and gives examples of the analyses used to established the construct validity of the tests and the internal consistency, reliability, and parallel forms reliability of the operational tests. The 2007 DLPT 5 cost analysis outlines the multiple categories of cost factors for developing web-based DLPTs as accurately as possible in order to facilitate management decisions regarding prioritization and allocation of resources. The costs will be stated in terms of per language project, per test form, and per test item. Additional records on costs and funding for the DLPT 5 include documents on development expenditures by fiscal year and spending plans for each language's DLPT. The date range of these documents is 1961 -2011, with bulk dates of 2000-2011. |
