This box of the1987 Command History Collection consists of the DLI Annual Program Review for both 1987 and 1988. The DLI Annual Program Review 1987 consists of a resource overview, construction update, academic program highlights, nonresident training, the status of test development, and updates on the various language schools. The resource overview is an analysis of the discrepancy between projected and actual student enrollment, the escalating foreign language training requirements, and the procedures used to schedule classes and ensure student fill. The contents of the DLI Annual Program Review consists of highlights from the various language schools and the San Francisco Branch. Also included is the Resource Management budget division for the fiscal year 1987 cost review. It provides a detailed account of money spent on civilian pay, travel, and both contract and supply dollars to the DLIFLC managers. Both the Training Management of Defense Foreign Language Program and the Training FORSCOM Command Language Program documents are contained in this part of the collection. The Training Management of Defense Foreign Language Program prescribes policy, procedures, and responsibilities for the management and operation of the Defense Foreign Language Program (DFLP); describes the Defense Foreign Language Program; and provides guidance for DOD Components concerning foreign language training requirements, programs, and objectives, and procurement of foreign language training materials and personnel services. Whereas the Training FORSCOM Command Language Program established a total force program for mission-required, nonresident foreign language training in Active Component (AC) and Reserve Component (RC) units, agencies, and activities of FORSCOM. The DLI Command and Staff Biographies of March, 1987 consists of members of the Command Group, Liaison Office, DLI San Francisco Branch, Commands, staff, and the deans of the language schools. It was originally designed to familiarize the military and civilian community with DLI's command and staff members. The date range for these documents is 1987-1991. |
