Scope & Content |
This portion of the Colonel Roger Fitch Collection contains additions made by a Fitch family descendant along with some miscellaneous biographies and obituaries. It includes extensive correspondence of Mrs. Roger (Ella) Fitch that she compiled while accompanying her husband on military assignments in Asia, mainly the Philippines, between 1911 and 1916. Next, a separate budget book kept by the Fitches from 1910 to 1915 provides greater detail about the events discussed in the Ella Fitch letters. The third element of the addition is a set of condolences sent to the family upon the death of Roger Fitch from surviving members of the Rough Riders. This was the military unit that Fitch joined when he volunteered to fight in the Spanish American War and which was formed by future US President Theodore Roosevelt in 1898. A separate folder contains obituaries and biographies of Col. Roger Fitch copied from other DLIFLC collections. A final folder includes miscellaneous items related to Roger Fitch. |
