This box of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Records contains records regarding the history of Fort Ord. Specific subject matter includes an annual historic review of the Training Division, Installation Historical Review, Fort Ord Annual Historical Summary and Review, Historical quarterly reports, and History & Archeology of Fort Ord (Land Boundary, History of the Beginning of Fort Ord).
Much of the annual reviews and summaries discuss the changes and/or significant events over the designated year. Records on finances, personnel, current operations, training, logistics, welfare, recreation, and moral are also included. The annual historical reviews and summaries also include information on the closure of Fort Ord and Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) history.
Historical quarterly reports highlights the significant events and actions for the Directorate of Base Realignment and Closure (DBRAC). Also included in the 2nd Quarter Historical Summary Report is the Memorandum of Understanding Between the U.S. Army and U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, which defines the procedures for the transfer of certain Fort Ord Lands from the Army to BLM and to form the basis for the formal transfer documents. Other deeds, leases, and licenses of land transfer are also included.
The folder titled History & Archeology of Fort Ord (Land Boundary, History of the Beginning of Fort Ord) includes blueprints, maps, articles, and documents regarding Fort Ord's land and history. The Prehistoric Archeological Survey at Fort Ord is also included. The folder also contains documents on the process and selection of dememorialization of certain facilities at Fort Ord.
