This box of the Fort Ord Historical Records Collection includes general historical information regarding Fort Ord organized by year, after action reports of the commanding general's service weapons match and pistol matches, annual historical supplements, and publicity for news media photographs.
Records from 1953 include the personal data of Fort Ord's Commanding Officer, Major General Edwin Carns. 1964's records consist of minutes from the Army's conferences with newspaper editors from San Francisco regarding their coverage of the Fort Ord Meningitis situation. The comments were directed by Commanding General, Sixth US Army, Lieutenant General Brown.
The After Action Report of the 1965 Pistol Matches includes enclosures on from the match adjutant, executive officer, public information officer, range section, statistical section, and supply section. Each of these sections consist of mission, organization, analysis of events, organization, problems and discussions, and conclusions. Scores from the matches are located in the statistical section. The After Action Report of the 1965 Commanding General's Service Weapons Match contains the same structure and type of information as the Pistol Matches records.
The annual historical supplements for the years 1967 to 1969 consist of information regarding mission changes, activation, inactivation, and reorganization, key staff personnel, troop strength, national guard training, major construction, and support to civil authority. The report covers Fort Ord, including Hunter Liggett Military Reservation and Camp Roberts.
Photographs include images dated 1969 regarding general Fort Ord life and training for the purposes for newspaper publicity. Also included are documents and images of training conducted at the Man vs. Man Reaction Course.
The date range of these documents is 1953-1969, with bulk dates from 1964 to 1969.
