This box of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Records contains a large amount of records regarding environmental issues and FORA (Fort Ord Re-Use Authority) issues. Also enclosed are materials regarding the Golf Course issues and the transfer of courses from Fort Ord to the City of Seaside.
The Enhanced Preliminary Assessment of Monterey Bay Fort Ord, CA report describes Monterey Bay and Fort Ord and the potential impacts from Fort Ord Activities (also includes recommendations). Pamphlets, newspaper articles, and documents are also available regarding issues of environmental cleanup of toxins, chemicals, ordnances, and explosives. Other environmental issues records include pamphlets, newspaper articles and documents on environmental cleanup workers, restoration program, history of superfund project, and multiple updates of progress.
Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA) Bill/Issues records include a large amount of documents and newspaper articles regarding the issue of the use of Fort Ord federal land, the dispute between Sand City and the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District, the $950 million Fort Ord reuse plan, and Senator Henry Mello Bill 899. The Comparative Report between Fort Ord Reuse Group (FORG) Reuse Plan and Denise Duffy Conceptual Base Reuse Plan is also available.
