Scope & Content This box of the Fort Ord Historical Records Collection includes historical report supplements, Association of the United States Army After Action Report, Organization Development (OD) Pilot Test, Laguna Seca Land, and a Medical Department Report.

The 1974 historical report and supplements include information on installation mission and changes, activation, inactivation, reorganization, and assignment of troop units, major construction and facilities, reserve and national guard training, staff personnel and troop strength. The report notes that on July 1, 1974, the Defense Language Institute East Coast Branch and the Defense Language Institute Washington location consolidated with the Defense Language Insitute West Coast at the Presidio of Monterey. A history of Fort Ord from 1917 to 1972 was prepared by the Fort Ord Historian and is part of these documents. Additional reports from the Directorate of Facilities Engineering, Civilian Personnel Office, Directorate of Industrial Operations, Medical Unit and Security.

The subject of excessed land to Ford Ord is also part of the 1974 historical reports and records.

The Pilot Test of Organization Development at Fort Ord includes progress review reports as well as interim reports. The report notes that Fort Ord has reorganized training units three times during the period January 1973 to July 1974 by reducing from three Basic Combat Training brigades of 13 battalions and 59 companies to one brigade of six battalions containing 7 companies. Organizational Development (OD) is meant to create the kind of environment in installations and in units so that an individual soldier has a rewarding experience during his Army career.

A 1975 annual historical report from the Medical Department Activity includes USA MEDDAC, the Silas B. Hays Hospital, Dental Activity, Health and Environment Activity, and Veterinary. The organization of this activity is outlined and consists of mission and personnel information, as well as general reports from each Activity unit.

The 1975 historical annual supplement contains similar information and organizational reports as the 1974 supplement.
